Shadi has tried cases in criminal and civil courts throughout Tampa Bay. This experience has helped him resolve his client’s cases quickly and effectively.
Shadi was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, and spent the first 10 years of his life in Freetown, Sierra Leone with his mother, father, and three brothers. On June 03, 1997, at the height of the Sierra Leone civil war, Shadi and his family, along with 453 American citizens, were evacuated by the U.S. in Operation Noble Obelisk by naval ship USS Kearsarge and the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit. Shadi’s family was evacuated to St. Petersburg, Florida where they have lived ever since.
Shadi began his legal education at the Criminal Justice Academy, a four-year high school magnet program in Pinellas County with an emphasis on law education. He continued on to the University of South Florida, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with magna cum laude honors, majoring in Governmental & International Affairs and minoring in Professional and Technical Writing. During his time at USF, Shadi was a founding member of the Center for Civic Engagement, President of the Law Society, and a member of the Student Government Association where he helped in creating intramural sports to include basketball, indoor soccer, and sand volleyball. Shadi also completed the Road to the White House program where he traveled to New Hampshire to work in a 2008 Presidential Election Campaign. In 2007-2008, Shadi received the USF Student Leader of the Year Award for outstanding community involvement and service.
Shadi attended law school at the Stetson University College of Law in Pinellas County, Florida. During his time at the College of Law, he was a recipient of the Equal Justice Works stipend for commitment and dedication to public service, where he spent his summer working in the General Counsel’s Office of the Department of Children and Families. During his final year of law school, he was a Certified Legal Intern authorized to practice law by the Supreme Court of Florida in the 6th Judicial Circuit as a criminal defense attorney in juvenile and adult cases. Shadi was a Stetson Ambassador, member of the Barney Masterson American Inns of Court, and a member of the American Bar Association where he traveled across the country to conferences on behalf of the College of Law. Shadi also received the Book Award in Immigration Law and Advocacy and the William F. Blews Pro Bono Service Award. Recreationally, Shadi enjoyed playing intramural softball and soccer.
After graduation, Shadi was appointed by the Honorable Bob Dillinger to serve as an Assistant Public Defender in the 6th Judicial Circuit of Florida where he practiced as a criminal defense attorney protecting indigent clients in Pasco and Pinellas County. Shadi quickly earned a reputation for his ability to communicate, provide compassionate representation, solve complex problems, and his professionalism. In 2018, Shadi was nominated for Attorney of the Year. He has helped hundreds of clients and has tried and won a variety of cases to include Domestic Battery, DUI, Possession, Theft, and more.
Shadi speaks Arabic and Krio with native proficiency.
He enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and writing poems and short stories.
